Tuesday 24th March Reception

Welcome back,

I hope you enjoyed your P.E. session yesterday with Joe Wicks. Nearly 800,000 people joined in with the live stream! Don’t forget to tune in at 9am again today. If you miss it, these are uploaded onto his YouTube channel.

Outside: Minibeast hunt

The weather is looking great for today with blue skies and highs of 14 degrees! Grab your coats and get outside to go on a minibeast hunt. Maybe you will venture into your garden or outside your front door. Just remember to keep at least 2 metres apart. You will find a checklist included in your packs. See if you can find 3 of them. If you have any seeds from some fruits, vegetables or flowers then today would be a great day to plant those too. What do plants need to grow?

Maths: One more

For your maths challenge today we would like you to find one more than a given number. If you have crisps, cereal or fruit try and find what one more is each time you take another. For example, if you have 4 grapes and add 1 more to the bowl. How many do you have now? As well as these practical activities there is a number line included in your pack. Take it in turns with an adult or sibling at home and challenge each other to find one more.

Literacy: Writing

We hope you saw lots of interesting things outside whilst you were looking for minibeasts. Try and write 2 sentences about what you saw. Did you find any bugs? How is the weather outside? Did you find any interesting leaves? Try and draw what you found.

Have a wonderful and bright day. Please leave a comment with anything you see or find.

Miss Goodswen and Mrs Hughes

    Literacy
It is a bright and sunny day today. I was looking garden and and found a spider on the fence it was only a little spider so I wasn’t scared. We were looking at the mud and found a worm coming out. And we saw a fly flying in the sky.

I saw a bee, an ant, a ladybird, wasp and a caterpillar.
Jeslyn also mentioned the ladybird was found swimming in water with an ant.
Is sunny outside and I love it.

Lottie and her brother Finlay collected minibeasts in the garden, finding slugs and a beetle. She has done a fantastic piece of writing about it and a picture to go with it.

Thanks for the guidance and activities, really helps us feel like the days are separate from the evenings and it’s great the kids get to feel like they’re achieving.
