Thursday 26th March 2020 Year 1

Hello Year One! We are all missing you but hope your are having some great time at home and enjoying time with your families and learning things together.

Activity 1- Exercise– We hope you are enjoying some form of daily exercise and if you are doing the Joe Wicks, please carry on with this today with many who are doing it at WFPS.

Remember to have a rest and glass of water afterwards!

Activity 2- Phonics You can recap on the spellings we have done so far and watch the videos again if you wish to. If you want an extra challenge, you could go around your house and see if you can find anything that has any of the spellings  oe  o-e   o  and ow  and can let us know on the blog if you wish. They might be in books in magazines or somewhere else.

Activity 3 Literacy– Can you continue this story and think about how it may finish? Perhaps you and someone in your house could take turns and add a bit of the story each.

Read the start of the story a couple of times and think about the characters and imagine what they might be like. You may want to think about what adventures they may have on the beach. How did they get there? I wonder if they discover things in rock pools or meet anyone on the beach? Perhaps they may live with sea creatures or other characters in the upturned boat. I wonder what they eat and what their home would be like? I hope the beach is kept clean and tidy for them? If your adult has work to do too, you may like to draw a story map by yourself to help you. Remember we have done this in class with pictures and arrows.

Activity 4- Maths Please can you find out which answer has the biggest total? A or B?

Question A       Addition 5+ 3+2+1+4+1+2 =

Question B        Subtraction 24 – 1- 3- 2- 2 =

Can you make up your own one now and test your adult or they could make up another one for you!

Have a nice Lunch!

Afternoon Activity

From your story this morning you can either draw a picture of Flotsam and Jetsam in their upturned boat and imagine what it could be like or you can draw a picture of your favourite part of your home. Will it be the garden or your bedroom or somewhere else?

If you are feeling a little tired, tell someone which is your favourite part of the house and why?

Look out for Mrs Worth’s end of the day video which will be available after 1pm.

Very best wishes from Mrs Rands, Mrs Felsted and Mrs Worth

Me too Florence. Can you predict what the differences might be? Have a guess. It will be a little while before we find out.

Thank you for setting today’s school work. Eddie Ray has managed to have a go at all. It’s a really big help. Our bean hasn’t emerged yet but we have been watering it. Thank you.

Wow, that was quick, Daisy! You are clearly taking very good care of your bean. Don’t be fooled by the lovely weather this week, it’s still very cold at night and we will need to keep our beans inside for a while longer before we plant them outside. Looking forward to seeing how they all get on.
