Friday 27th March Reception

Good morning,

I hope you have all tuned into Joe Wicks again this morning at 9am. Well done if you have managed to do all 5 sessions! During the weekend play a game or board game with your family making sure to take turns. If you don’t have one try to invent your own.

English: Tricky word bingo

This is a game that many of you request during our phonics lessons. Find your most tricky rocket words either in your green school book or on your rocket word list. Can you choose 6 of these words, from any rocket that you have learned, and write them down on a piece of paper. Ask an adult or sibling to call out these words in any order. Who will call BINGO first?

Look back at your name writing from yesterday. Which letter do you need to practise? Try and practise 2 letters today.

Maths: Counting two groups

For this game you can use either a dice, your number cards or your number representation cards. Turn them all face down so you cannot see the numbers. Starting with two people, take it in turns to take a card or roll the dice. Once everybody has a had a turn reveal your numbers. Can you add these together?

For a challenge you could try with three people instead of two. Or for a different challenge can you try and put the first number in your head and then use your fingers to find the total. For example, if you roll or turn over a 5 then a 3 you would start counting from 5 and use your fingers to count on by 3.

Other: Asking questions

Go on an adventure around your house to find photographs or pictures. How many do you have? Can you ask 3 questions about them?

Thank you for all of your support this week,

Miss Goodswen and Mrs Hughes

Michael has been loving Joe Wicks.. he actually carries on even after the 30 mins session using his bike as a stationary bike and using my 1kg weights to do push-ups watching him do a press-up is hilarious :-).

I actually did not realise there was a reception class blog till just today:-) We will make sure to log in daily. Michael has been enjoying himself at home but also doing his school work. We have been following a strict routine (as i need to keep him busy when we have meetings (both his dad and I have to work from home) using materials provided plus materials from Twinkl website. So far so good he has been co-operating with the “Learning Periods” but absolutely loves the independent learning and playing outside in the garden.

I think what has really helped me was that I asked him what the routine was in school ..immediately he gets dropped off in school, what happens next. So I just adapted the routine he described and explained to him that we will be following this new routine for the foreseeable future.

We will make sure to tune in daily into the class blog now and send in pictures of his work/drawing etc.

He definitely misses his friends and teachers.

Sorry we haven’t been in touch sooner! This week has been a real period of settling in as a family to a routine (ish). These are brilliant ideas. We will be doing the bingo tomorrow!! We have been doing Joe Wicks everyday. B.H. has been showing us his lovely writing and done lots of reading. We have done the nature hunt, which was fun. He really is missing everyone at school. You are all Angel’s teaching early years. We are so grateful for you, they are a tough crowd!!! We have made a chart on our wall with pegs, that all 4 of us have to use! Even daddy. Hope this transition has been ok for you all. We are wishing you all well.
