Thursday 23rd April Reception

Good Morning,

Today is going to be hot so don’t forget your sun cream.

Literacy: Story

Today for literacy I have attached a story for you to read with someone at home. You might want to try and spot some tricky rocket words. This is a fairly long story so you can do a little at a time. Once you have read it, can you write a list of all of the characters? You might want to read it through again whilst you do this.

Next, try and put some actions to your story. Try adding one action to each paragraph.

Maths: Doubling

Did you enjoy the doubling game yesterday. You might want to play this again to get your brains warmed-up.

Today, can you find a double using objects around your house. You might make two Lego towers that are the same height. You might thread the same number of beads onto two pieces of string. You might stack some cans in your kitchen. Be creative and see what you can find. Don’t forget to use the language “double __ is __”.

If you would like a challenge, draw an outline of a ladybird or butterfly. Try and put the same number of circles on each wing to find a double. If I have 4 on each wing how many are there? Double 4 is__?

Other: Spring drawing

I have seen some beautiful flowers outside recently now that Spring is here. Can you find one thing outside that you have found really interesting. It could be a leaf, flower or anything else you find. Try and look carefully at the shapes you can see. Are there any parts that are darker or lighter? What small details can you see if you look really closely?

You can always send photos of these to your teacher if you would like.

Have a great sunny day,

Doubles and half of practiced this morning with the use of duplo to help demonstrate 2 becoming 4 or 2 becoming 1. The visual aids seem to have helped Joshua with understanding what he is supposed to be doing.

Exploration in the the garden this afternoon to see what interesting things Joshua can find 🙂
