Monday 27th April 2020- Year 1
Dear Year One,
Welcome to our Home Learning for this week. We hope you have had a nice relaxing weekend.
We are going to do our blog slightly different from now on where we set learning activities on a weekly basis. However, in Year One we will be finishing The Elves and the Shoemaker this week as we have already started this lovely story. Then as the week goes on, we will be moving onto some activities based on some educational websites recommended and other year groups are using. We have been using some of them already in Year One. We will also be including some other activities that you can do over the week when it suits you but will include those tomorrow.
Activity 1- PE– You can choose one of these. Joe Wicks work, Cosmic Yoga or you can make up your our own keep fit this morning.
Activity 2- Phonics– Mrs Felstead’s phonics video, see her usual blog post.
Activity 3- Literacy– Please watch these videos below where we are finishing off the story we started.
Please watch video 1.
We would like you to watch to this video and then look at the picture below and answer the questions.
Can you see the reel of tread, hammer, tacks (small nails), needle, thimble and measuring tape? Did you spot all 6 items?
Who is working on the sole of the shoe, the boy or the girl?
What is the elf doing with the hammer?
Please watch video 2.
What was your favourite page in this part of the story and why?
The Elves say at the end of the part that they are not going to be cobblers anymore. What is a cobbler? Where have you heard that word before? What do you know about a football team in Northampton?
Now watch video 3.
Why do you think the shoemaker and his wife were so happy at the end of the story?
Maths for the week commencing 27th
Please work through the activities over the week, once each day.
Here is the link for maths.
Morning!!! Grace enjoyed the story about the shoe maker and particularly liked the page with the song that the elves sang after they got their new clothes.
Thanks for letting us know Grace. I loved that page too!I am so glad you enjoyed the story.
Eddie Ray has worked through all of the activities today ( phonics, maths and the literacy /story). He liked the part when the elves ran off in their new clothes. Thank you.
