Reception- Week beginning Monday 27th April
Good morning everybody! We hope you are all well.
We are trying a slightly different approach, so below you will find links to your learning this week. There will also be other ideas on the whole school family fun blog posts too. Pick and choose what you would like to do.
Literacy https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/reception/#schedule
This academy has specifically been set up for home learning in our current situation. Click onto Reception and complete the English lessons each day. (We are starting one week behind, so the first lesson for us is Monday 20th April.)
Maths https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/
We use this scheme in school and as well as some online teaching, it also sets practical activities for the children to complete. (Again, we are beginning one week behind, so start with Summer Term Week 1 w/c 20th April.)
Watch the story below.
The Oak National Academy also has Maths lessons taught by teachers which you may like to complete instead, or as well as the Whiterose. (Do what you can and please keep it manageable.)
Phonics Letters and Sounds for Home and School begins on Monday 27th April. This resource is designed by experts for use by parents, carers and teachers during the Covid-19 period. New lessons will be uploaded every weekday, and will be available to watch, throughout the summer term. Reception lessons will be uploaded daily at 10am. We would normally teach phonics everyday and keeping these skills going will really benefit the children.

Wider curriculum tasks
Can you design and then make a fruit salad or smoothie? What ingredients do you need? What will you need to do to the fruit? Will you need to add anything else such as yogurt, water or juice? How many fruits and vegetables should we eat everyday? Why?
Can you draw a picture of your house? When the weather is nice, go outside into your garden and really look at the shapes you can see. Are there rectangles, squares, triangles or circles? When you have finished, can you describe your house to a family member?
Practise singing God’s Love is like a circle, then do a performance for your family. Can you teach it to them?
Here are the words (just in case you have forgotten them) and the tune is the same as Puff the magic dragon
God’s love is like a circle a circle big and round,
And when you see a circle no ending can be found,
And so the love of Jesus goes on eternally,
Forever and forever I know that God loves me.
Please let us know how you are getting on, either via comments on the blog, or by emailing us on miss.goodswen@wfps.org.uk or mrs.hughes@wfps.org.uk
Stay happy and safe,
Best wishes,
The Reception Team
