Year 6 – Week beginning 27th April

*Friday Update  – Well done for working through the week’s tasks 🙂 Miss Lowe and I can’t wait to read your newspapers about Malfoy and the Hippogriff! Remember you can post parts or your whole newspaper on the blog as a comment with a made up email: name@wfps.org.uk  e.g theo@wfps.org.uk or you can email them to us at miss.spaven@wfps.org.uk and miss.lowe@wfps.org.uk. We’ll be waiting in anticipation!*

Hello Year 6,

Welcome to the Year 6 blog. From now on, we will be posting the tasks you need to complete over the week in one go. Hopefully, this will enable you to be able to be flexible in your learning and make it work for you and your family.

On this post, you will find 5 English, 5 maths and 3 wider curriculum tasks for you to complete throughout the week.

For English and maths, there will be 5 lessons available. It would be amazing if you could complete one a day – we know this isn’t possible for everyone – so aim for at least 3.

There will also be 3 other tasks to complete which will be the wider curriculum as well as spellings. These may be science, geography, history, PSHE, art or D&T. You can choose when you would like to complete these.

We love reading your comments on the blog and receiving emails from you all, especially pictures of your incredible work; we endeavour to respond as promptly as we can.

Our emails are:

miss.lowe@wfps.org.uk     miss.spaven@wfps.org.uk

We will continue to post chapters of our story for you to enjoy so keep an eye on the blog for those to appear.

We are both missing you all dearly but so grateful that technology can bring us so much closer together.

Have a great week – we look forward to hearing from you! Just let us know which lesson or activity you are completing on your blog post, so we know how to help you best!

Miss Lowe and Miss Spaven

This all looks and sounds great Emmie – which lessons did you choose to do today? I’m struggling to follow – sorry!

I’m interested in all of the information you found out about teeth though – well done!

Hi, i have completed the maths and English tasks for today. There were a few maths questions that i struggled to work out so me and my mum looked at the answers and worked out how to work them out. We enjoyed the news article about Harry Potter, I’ve never read it before but may start to read it now. We are enjoying listening to your story, and looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Well done Oliver, we are really proud of you consistently having a go at the blog each day and giving it your best shot. What a great attitude to your learning 🙂
Ratio is a completely new concept that we haven’t looked at yet in school so please don’t worry that you found them a little tricky. If you would like some help next time, please just send Miss Lowe or myself an email and we are happy to help. You could always take a photo/screen shot of the problem you found tricky and we could create a mini video to help explain 🙂
WE LOVE THE HARRY POTTER BOOKS!! You will love them Oliver, they are fabulous. I just found my old ones in my book shelf and got them out to reminisce about. I wish I had the chance to read them fresh all over again. Enjoy 🙂 (p.s they are much better than the films in my opinion).
Miss Lowe’s next famous five instalment is tomorrow – we are pleased you are listening!
      Nice to hear from you.

Oliver completed the maths and literacy tasks today, he struggled to answer some of the question as we don’t have a protractor. He did really well with all the other questions. He is looking forward to the next part of the story.

Thank you for letting us know. I’m so pleased Oliver is engaging with the blog every day. There are some websites that have online protractors that allow you to insert a background image if you need to use a protractor in the future but don’t worry too much – at least he is still able to access some of the tasks. We are very proud of his hard work!
The next part of the story is posting today at 12 o’clock so not too long to wait now – I hope you enjoy it 🙂
      Have a good afternoon.

Well done for completing your tasks. We love hearing from you on the blog Isaac to see how you’re getting on.
How are you finding this new style of blog? Which are your favourite parts? Any that you find tricky? Have you got any suggestions for what you’d like to see more of?
      Thanks!

I think I like this blog style more than the new one as it saves me more time and it feels more free, as for the chocolate cookies recipe I’ll try to get my Mum interested in it and see if we can cook them!

For my tasks today I’ll be doing Maths, Geography, English and Music, I really enjoy the music lessons in particular! Anyway I’ll see you all again next week with the new tasks, bye!

That’s fantastic Isaac – thank you for your feedback! It is nice to get to choose what you want to learn each day, isn’t it?
The chocolate cookies sound yummy – if you do make them, I hope you enjoy yourself!
Sounds like you’re going to be busy today then! I like the music tasks too – I like to turn my music up really loud and sing along.
Have a good day and a lovely weekend! See you on the blog next week!
          Miss Lowe 🙂
