Year 4- Week beginning 11th May

Hello Year 4!

We hope you have had a lovely long weekend and are ready for another week of home learning. As always, we’d love to hear more from you on the blog or by email. Remember when you comment on the blog, you can just make up an email address to be able to post a comment.

e.g name@wfps.org.uk or name@class.uk    theo@wfps.org.uk     or  theo@beech.uk

Don’t feel you have to comment every day but perhaps at the end of the week you could post or email to say what you’ve completed. You could tell us what you enjoyed most (so we know to do more of this!) and what you found tricky (so we can help you improve!)

Here are the links to the 5 English and maths lessons for the week, as well as three wider curriculum activities for you to have a go at. It would be great if you could complete one English and maths a day – we know this isn’t possible for everyone – so aim for at least 3. You can choose when you would like to complete the wider curriculum activities – this week you have some art, computing and a science to explore.

We love reading your comments on the blog and receiving emails from you all, especially pictures of your incredible work; we endeavour to respond as promptly as we can. Please keep sending us comments and emails – it makes our day!

Our emails are:

miss.chambers@wfps.org.uk     miss.clancy@wfps.org.uk

Remember to watch this space for this week’s story or poem!

We are both missing you all dearly but so grateful that technology can bring us so much closer together.

Miss Chambers and Miss Clancy

Maths:

Because everyone has been doing different maths activities, work through week 3 of Whiterose maths if you haven’t already…

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

If you have completed all weeks of Whiterose Maths week 3, there will now be a cost to use the worksheets. So watch the videos for Week 4, and then follow the link on the website which will take you to activities on the BBC Bitesize website.

Any questions or for clarification, please contact your class teacher as soon as possible.

Science

Pick a habitat from the following website, either Savannah, Tundra or Woodland. Use the interactive page to create a food chain of the animals and wildlife that you can see.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zbnnb9q

Once finished, can you think of another habitat and the animals and wildlife that lives there and create your own food chain?

ICT/PSHE

Have a look at the following scenarios and consider what you should do if you find yourself in that situation. Remember, it is very important to speak to an adult if you have any concerns when online.

Art/music

Think about your favourite piece of music. It might be a soundtrack for your favourite film, it might be a song in the charts, it might be something that we sang for Family Service (Doesn’t that seem a long time ago!) Then, can you draw a picture that you think represents that song/piece of music. Think about your choice of colours, the shapes that you create and the lines that you used.

Then, when you have finished drawing, can you write a short critique of your picture. eg, “I have chosen to use lots of sharp angles and straight lines, coloured in orange because although the beat is quite short and snappy, I think the song is happy and therefore I have coloured it in orange because I think that’s a joyful colour.”

Share these with us please!

As always, enjoy your learning and have a good week!

We are trying to get a subscription and figure out how best to share the worksheets. We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve sorted it! For now, you can continue watching the videos and maybe try some of the extra activities on Bitesize.
