Hello Maple and Redwood,
Here are your home learning activities for the week.
As before, there will be 5 lessons available for English and Maths.
Please aim to complete at least 3 of the lessons.
Just like last week, there will also be 3 wider curriculum activities, as well as a spelling/phonics activity.
If you would like to get in touch with either of us, please leave a comment or email us:
Keep an eye on the blog for this week’s video too.
Take care everyone,
Miss Bailey & Mr Bettles
We have had great feedback this week so will continue to use BBC Bitesize for our English lessons.
These can be accessed on the website below. Work through the English lessons in order, starting with the 18th May.
This week, we will not be using all of the White Rose lessons. This is because Lesson 3 on White Rose teaches a method that is different to the one that you know for multiplication.
Please complete at least 3 of the following lessons:

Lesson 5 – White Rose Friday Maths Challenge
Keep learning your Year 3 / 4 common exception words (there should be a copy in your reading record, your home learning pack and you can also find them online).
- Spelling Activity:
Phonics – sh and ch
Sometimes the ‘sh’ sound can be spelt with a ‘ch’ like in chute.
The ‘ch’ spelling is also found it words like chip or character – what sound is it making in those words?
Have a practice using the activity below:
Wider Curriculum Task 1 – Science
What do plants need to live?
- Plants need air, light, warmth, water and nutrients to be healthy.
- If they are healthy, they can continue making their own food through photosynthesis .
- Most healthy plants are upright with green leaves.
Conduct a plant survey in your house and/or garden. Record your findings in your book.
1.Can you find out the names of the plants you have found?
2.Does each plant look healthy? How can you tell?
3.If the plant doesn’t look healthy, can you use your learning to suggest what the problem might be?
4.Can you remember any of the names of the parts of the plant from your learning in Year 2?
Bonus challenge – sketch one of the plants and label it with your findings.
Wider Curriculum Task 2 – Geography
Contours, keys and symbols
Do you remember a couple of weeks ago you explored an introduction to maps?
Here is the next lesson in that sequence, which looks at contours, keys and symbols on maps.
Watch the videos and complete the activities on this page:
Too much screen time?
Can you design a map of a walk you have taken recently?
Wider Curriculum Task 3 – Art/DT
Looking for another scavenger hunt? Try this Walking Scavenger Hunt….
Additional Activities – If you have completed all the tasks and want to carry on learning you can use any of the below.
Have you seen the TEACHERS VS CHILDREN battle?!!!
Reading and Writing –
Spellings – use your year 3/4 spellings and pick 10 words to practise.
Choose something to read at home – anything with words!

I have done science and to learn what the names were of the plants I used an app called seek.It tells you the name of plants or animals I tried it on my cats but it only knew what Mimi was.I found some healthy plants in my garden they were called sweet mock orange, blueblossom, herb Robert and green alkanet.
This is always going to be fun
