Year 5 – Week beginning Monday 8th June

Hello Hawthorn and Sycamore,

This week there are 5 maths lessons and 5 English lessons to complete as well as 5 tasks which you can complete on whichever days you wish. Feel free to do all of these but if not, 3 maths and 3 English is the expectation from school.

Thank you for all of you who have emailed us this week, especially with the incredible musical instruments you have created. Remember when you comment on the blog, you can just make up an email address to be able to post a comment.

e.g name@class.org.uk  for example  joe@hawthorn.org.uk or  joe@sycamore.org.uk

You don’t have to contact us every day but we would like to hear from you once a week to hear how you are getting on. Our emails are:

mrs.byfield@wfps.org.uk     miss.taylor@wfps.org.uk

We would love to hear what you’ve been up to, what you enjoyed most, then we can make sure we include more of this. Also, tell us what you found tricky so we can help you improve.

We are looking forward from hearing from you all,

Mrs Byfield and Miss Taylor

The three main types, or classes, of rock are sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous and the differences among them have to do with how they are formed. Sedimentary rocks are formed from particles of sand, shells, pebbles, and other fragments of material.

I’ve also looked at Henry II and Thomas a becket, I watched horrible histories on this subject which was more interesting.
I’ve completed the science and looked for more rocks in my garden.

I checked the link to the Wednesday maths answers, and I do get the answers on the sheet I am looking at- they were handwritten in the boxes. Do you want to have another try, and just check the link you choose states ‘answers’ in it? Mrs Bacon 🙂

Metamorphic rocks, are formed when heat and pressure inside the Earth that change igneous and sedimentary rocks.

The first job that Henry the 2nd, gave to Thomas Beckett was the role of a chancellor.
Henry the 2nd, was rumored to have said, ‘ will no one rid me of this turbulent priest’?.
The name of the special courts of clergy was the ecclesiastical court.

    Hello Ms Taylor & classmates,

I am working one week behind what’s on the blog – so I have just completed this week above’s work on Friday 19th June.

I enjoyed the Maths and am particularly enjoying the Spanish lessons and remembering our Spanish Cafe times.

The English lessons this week were cool. I like writing stories, so it was fun exercising these alternative endings. Weird. But cool.

I have my picture that I’ve painted for the art lesson – I will get my mom to send by email to you.

I’m pleased you enjoy writing stories – I’m sure Miss Taylor would love to see if you are able to email that to her too.
      Have a good day.
