Spider Safari!

Hi Year 4!

I hope you are all enjoying this week’s home learning.

Today, the Year 4/5/6 Key Workers Group and I went on our own Spider Safari in school.

We spoke about what we were expecting to find but these two spiders were a bit of a surprise and were definitely bigger than I had planned for!

Afterwards, we spent some time in the classroom looking at information about different types of spiders. Did you know that the largest spider found in the UK is the Cardinal Spider (Tegenaria parietina) and some males have been recorded with an impressive 12 cm leg span?

Have any of you been on a spider/insect safari yet? If you have, I would love to know how you got on and if you found anything interesting!

Well, I have been watching Deadly 60 with Steve Backshall. Did you know the most venomous spider in the world is a red back also known as Black Widow. As soon as It bites you will die in 15 minutes.
Mummy found some huge black ones in the garden. They were so SCARY!!!!

I did know the Black Widow was the most poisonous but I didn’t know you would die in 15 minutes. We also found a frog in one of the trees at school today so there is definitely lots of wildlife around at the moment!
